Creating Tasks for a File

You can create a task associated with the file from Task Management page (see Adding and Modifying Tasks) or from the Tasks widget in the open file.

Prerequisites: You must have the "Create Tasks Associated with FilesClosedThe electronic record created when a user submits an incident report, such as a fall or medication error, or when a patient provides feedback. Some organizations refer to files as events, reports, or cases." role permission in order to perform this operation.

To create tasks for a file:

  1. Open a file (not shown, see Navigating the File Info Center (page 1)).
  2. In the File Notifications side panel, click Tasks(not shown) to view the callout of the recent tasks. Note: If you are managing a file on a tablet using a responsive format, click the arrow to expand the Tasks section to view, create, reassign or complete a task related to the file.
  3. (Optional) From the drop-down menu, choose a different task filter. See Task Filters.
  4. Do one of the following to access the Add/Modify Task dialog:
    1. Click New Task.
    2. Click the More Tasks. The Tasks dialog opens. Click Add.
  5. Note: The process of adding tasks from the widget is very similar to using the Task icon in the navigation bar (Adding and Modifying Tasks). The main difference is Module and File ID are automatically entered if you use the Tasks widget workflow.
  6. Complete the fields. You can add multiple people in the Assigned To field if you want more than one person assigned the same task.
  7. Click OK. The task appears in the Task grid and Task widget.
